The Sub Committee on Economic Affairs has recommended that ground handling operations of the Katunayake International Airport to be handed over to the Sri Lanka Airport and Air Services Company.
Currently, Sri Lanka’s national carrier SriLankan Airlines handles these operations. The Government has decided to handover the management of Sri Lankan Airlines to a foreign partner company, the state run TV reported.
Therefore, the Sub Committee has pointed out that the ground operations of the Airport should be kept under the Government.
Executive Director of the Sri Lanka Airports and Air Services said that the staff of the SriLankan Airlines doing such work at present would be assigned to the same work after the operations are handed over to his company.
