Australia and US has certified Mahindra’s Airvan 10. Delivery of the product is due in 2018. This aircraft is powered by Rolls Royce M250 engine which could fly at a speed of 240 kph and reach a height of 20,000 feet. It carries 10 passengers including the Pilot.
Airvan 10 is a follow on product of Airvan 8, which was produced by the Mahindra’s business unit in Australia. There are around 220 Airvan 8 is in service in more than 42 countries.
Airvan 10 comes under the category of utility aircraft which is a general-purpose light aircraft usually used for transporting people or freight, but also for other duties when more specialized aircraft are not required or available.
This new work horse with single turboprop engine comes as a competitor for Cessna Caravan and Quest Kodiak of USA. Marketing of Airvan 10 will be supported by Gipps Aero, which is the subsidiary of Mahindra in Australia who designed the airplane.
