Air Canada Rouge Boeing 767 flight from Gatwick to Toronto burst its tyre while taking-off. Though it was decided to return to the airway the aircraft had to fly in circles above Southern England for about half an hour to burn the fuel and then returned back to Gatwick.
The runway was closed for half an hour from 13:16 for an inspection for any debris. It has caused some flights to be delayed or diverted.
Rescue crews were sent to the scene to help the passengers off the plane. No injuries have been reported.
The jet was towed back to the gate by support of vehicles. The runway was closed for the second time from 14.:12 for further inspection and caused further delays for several flights.
The cabin crew had been commended by the passengers for the safe landing and also for keeping everyone calm during the incident.
