A Serve Air Cargo Antonov AN-26 reg 9S-AFL flying from Goma to Bunia (DR Congo) with 4 crew onboard veered off runway when it made an emergency landing.
The aircraft took off from Goma and shortly after takeoff one of the engines (AI-24VT) failed, and the crew returned to Goma and made an emergency landing.
The aircraft touched down half way down runway 35, failed to a stop and overran onto an area of lava field.
All crew survived, but the aircraft sustained substantial damage, nose and right main landing gear collapsed.
