Since its declaration of insolvency, Air Berlin has been receiving several kinds of bids buy the assets of it. Lufthansa and Condor has shown interest in tabling bids.
Lufthansa has made an offer to buy some parts of the airline.
Condor which is a subsidiary of Thomas Cook has joined with the founder of Niki Air to make an offer. Niki Lauda has told Austrian media this week that he and Condor has jointly bidding to take over 38 of Air Berlin’s planes and routes for about €100m. But Condor itself declined to comment on the bid or its partnership with Mr Lauda.
EasyJet confirmed that it had submitted a bid to acquire parts of its short-haul business.
While the bidders are eagerly waiting for the response Air Berlin has announced that the decision of its future would be determined on September 25th the very day after the German Federal Election.
The past six years, Air Berlin has accumulated deficits of €2bn, while net debt rose to €1.2bn.
