Airport computer check-in system went down around the world this morning (28th Sept) including London Heathrow and Paris Charles De Gaulle.
The check-in systems using Amadeus Altea software were hit and more than 125 airlines across the world uses the software in the airports and online.
Amadeus IT Group is a major Spanish IT solution provider for the global travel and tourism industry. Amadeus provides search, pricing, booking, ticketing and other processing services in real-time to travel providers and travel agencies through its Amadeus CRS distribution business area. Through its IT Solutions business area, it also offers travel companies software systems which automate processes such as reservations, inventory management and departure control.
Travellers in Singapore, Qatar, Zurich, Melbourne, Johannesburg, Dallas and other major airports took the issue on social media.
Airlines believed to be affected include British Airways, Qatar, Lufthansa, Air France and Southwest Airlines.
