The first Boeing 787-9 of Qantas Airlines took its first flight.The airplane took off from Snohomish County Airport at Boeing’s Everett facility on Thursday and landed at Grant County International Airport at Moses Lake about 90 minutes later.
This is the first of eight 787-9s on firm order.
For the time being it will operate on domestic routes to gain experience and it would be deployed on a direct flight to Los Angeles from Melbourne in December. Then in March 2018 it will operate 9008 mile long Perth-London route.
The non-stop flight to London would take 17 hours and it is the third longest route in the world.
