As fleet requirements is underway, AirAsia X plans to switch to the bigger wide-body jets, said AirAsia group CEO Tony Fernandes in an interview on Tuesday 10th October 2017.
According to Bloomberg, AirAsia X is considering to swap 66 Airbus A320neo order it placed to Airbus A350s. “Over the last 10 years we have been tweaking the model,” and “Now that we kind of know what we want to do, we’re looking at the fleet. We’re toying with the A350. If we went A350, we wouldn’t use the A330neo anymore, we’d go all A350.” Tony said, adding that the Boeing 787 Dreamliner will also be considered, and said Boeing 787 “looks interesting as well,”
If AirAsia decides to swap, the order numbers might change as the list price of A350-900 is $311.2 million versus $290.6 million for the A330neo, but Tony always get a bargain with Airbus.
