Dubai airport is parting with security counters and going in for virtual borders. The passengers will just walk through a virtual aquarium which will be equipped with 80 china made cameras that will scan the faces precisely and compare with the original entry at the kiosks installed all around the airport.
This system would come to effect in the Terminal 3, exclusive for Emirate passengers which is equipped with necessary infrastructure in 2018, and thereafter introduced to all the passengers in 2020 by the time there will be 124 million passengers walking through the tunnel. At the moment Dubai is handling 80 million passengers.
The virtual aquarium will eliminate the delays and hassles in security counters which also would increase the customer satisfaction, the most important aspect of installing such facility.
Dubai Airports’ chief executive Paul Griffiths said that while they are working with police and national security, the airport is trying to minimise disruption to the customer journey and develop new measures that will develop security standards, as the threat is increasing.
