First of the 20 Indian Airforce planes landed minutes ago on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in India. The 20 aircraft touch and go drill is underway in front of thousands of spectators.
As requested by the Indian Air Force all new public roads are designed and built to serve as runways for its war planes to land and takeoff in case their base runways are bombed. The drill is to demonstrate the hardiness of road to take on the impact of high speed jets.
Today for the first time C-130J heavy transport aircraft joined the drill and landed on the expressway. Earlier today Mirage 2000 and Sukhoi-Su-30MKI landed on the Yamuna Expressway and the Lucknow-Agra Expressway.
