400 flight cancelled and 40,000 passengers affected due to 24 hours strike by workers of Airlines in Argentina.
Employees of Austral Líneas Aéreas and state-run Aerolíneas Argentinas went of a 24-hour strike demanding a salary increase of 26% to offset inflation expected to reach 22% this year.
Five unions are taking part in the strike and almost 400 flights cancelled affecting 40,000 passengers.
The Jorge Newbery airport in Buenos Aires, and Ezeiza airport in the outskirts of the Argentine capital were inactive.
President of Argentine Airline said, his staff are paid better than other airlines in the country, but the union demands the salary to be in accordance with the inflation rate.
Argentina’s annual inflation rate is now about 20%, down from an estimated rate of about 40% last year
