Finnish airline Finnair started weighing passengers before boarding. It hopes to weigh at least 150 passengers along with their luggage on every flight.
As part of Voluntary pilot program, travellers boarding finnair flight departing Helsinki-Vantaa Airport can elect to step on a scale with their carry-on luggage.
Airline said, the reason for weighing is to determine the accurate weight and balance of the aircraft, in order make efficient flight operations.
However, Finnair says passenger weighs during the winter season is higher than the summer, because they carry winter jackets and other winter gears. In addition to weighing passengers it will collect data such as age gender, purpose of Travel and many travel more office.
This is not the first an airline weighing passengers, In 2015, Uzbekistan Airways, and in 2016, Pago Pago International Airport introduced pre-boarding weighing and came under fire.
