Lufthansa believes that the secret to future success is being close to the customer and has been looking for potential partner to setup its maintenance facility in Asia.
Lufthansa Technik (LHT) already has a unit in Philippines which is maxed out to its capacity., and the company needs extra space and manpower to meet the needs in narrowbody maintenance market, particularly in Asia Pacific; So it is in negotiation with potential partners to establish MRO work with around 600,000 man hours a year.
If a new base maintenance facility could be established in Asia-Pacific, it will add to LHT’s seven other such facilities worldwide. All these facilities are controlled by LHT’s headquarters in Hamburg. Lufthansa Technik AG, often referred as LHT, provides maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for aircraft, engines and components. The Lufthansa Technik Group consists of 32 companies with more than 25,500 employees. It is a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group.
Lufthansa Technik’s base is at Hamburg Airport. It has 12 facilities in Europe and another 9 outside Europe including India and Philippines. The most important product of Lufthansa Technik for maintenance and overhaul of aircraft is Total Technical Support (TTS). This product integrates all Lufthansa Technik services.
