London bound Aer Lingus Airbus A320, flight EI712 returned to Cork Airport in Ireland, shortly after takeoff due smoke detected in the cockpit. The A320 departed Cork Airport at 12.46 am with 151 passenger on board took a U turn and safely landed at 13:38.
All 151 were evacuated via emergency slides and some used steps. No reported injury.
A full activation of the airport’s emergency plan was deployed with Cork City and Cork County Fire Services. HSE ambulances were turning out in support of the Cork Airport Fire and Police Service.
