A drone hit an Aerolineas Argentinas Boeing 737 flight AR1865 on its approach to Jorge Newbery Airfield (AEP), Buenos Aires on 11 November 2017. The domestic flight AR1865 departed Trelew at 7.49a.m LT and landed at Buenos Aires.
The plane sustained minor damage, but was taken out of service for inspection. This is not the first time a drone crossed an airplane in the airport region, the tower has reported some previous close calls. “Three weeks ago, in the same place, we crossed a drone within five meters, and today we hit one,” said the pilot. “If it had crashed into the engine, it would have broken the engine.” he added.
