As an Amaszonas Canadair corporate jetliner was being prepared for take-off from Montevideo Airport in Uruguay, its tyre blew off seriously injuring the nearby worker. The airliner was about to depart to Cordabo in Argentina.
The injured worker was taken to a military hospital for emergency surgery and both his legs were amputated. The airline confirmed the incident and suspended its flights operation for a day. The cause of this serious incident is being investigated.
He is a former Uruguayan Air Force official who retired with 20 years experience and now working in a private aircraft maintenance organisation.
