Fire accident occurred at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka when the nose wheel of a SpiceJet airlines plane caught fire due to friction while the aircraft was heading towards runway from taxiway for taking off at 10:40am, Friday. No casualties were reported
A fire service crew unit immediately arrived at the spot and all the 74 passengers and four crew members were evacuated safely from the flight and doused the fire. According to the report, the flight operations at the airport remained suspended for an hour after cancellation of the flight and then the passengers were taken to a hotel.
The authorities at the airport stated that the affected aircraft needs to be repaired because it seems that bearing of the wheel might break up causing fire at the wheel.
