A Delta plane was rolling down Runway 13R on Tuesday getting ready for takeoff, when another jet, a Volaris Airlines flight Airbus A319 mistakenly lined up on the same runway at JFK airport. Volaris Airlines was cleared for Runway 13L and it mistakenly lined up to land on Runway 13R.
Air traffic controllers at JFK Airport acted quickly and sent orders for both airlines. Dalta was ordered to cancel the takeoff. Delta stopped its takeoff and taxied off the runway. The Volaris was ordered to go around until the runway is cleared.
The Volaris, which was arriving in New York City from Mexico, went around and landed safely on the correct runway 13L. This incident happened just one week after two planes had clipped wings with each other at JFK
