Apart from reconfiguration of the Airbus A321 neos’ cabin, Qatar Airways proposes a change in the engine provision as well. It is in continuous talk with CFM International about this provision.
Qatar has already refused the first delivery of an order placed for Pratt & Whitney powered 34 A320s and 16 A321s in 2016, as CEO Akbar Al Baker mentioned it had unacceptable operational limitations related to extended engine re-start times. Threafter Pratt engines were experiencing reliability deficiencies associated with other manufacturing and design problems as well.
Anyhow, Qatar has not committed to any engine type for the new order.
