112 Pilots working for Ryanair based in Dublin will strike for one day on 20 December in a bid to win union recognition and better conditions.
The airline, which does not recognise unions, said they represented about 28% of its Dublin-based captains and determined to face-down the strike.
Meanwhile, Ryanair pilots and cabin crew in Italy also plan to strike for four hours on 15 December which airline said last week it would “ignore” the Italian move, claiming staff rarely heeded calls to walk out.
Also, Ryanair Pilots based in Portugal and Germany plan for industrial action which would disrupt the airline operation in Europe.
Ryanair warned the pilots and has told that they will be in breach of their agreements and lose benefits including guarantees over rosters and pay, and be denied promotion.
Flights to and from Dublin, Shannon and Cork are likely to be affected by the walkout on Wednesday and disrupt flights during Christmas time
