Dutch military police shot a 29-year-old man, who is known to the police in connection with previous violent incidents. The incident took place at the central plaza of Schiphol airport, an area populated with shops, bars and restaurants. The people around the shopping area were evacuated, but not “airside” parts of the airport behind the check-in area and security checks. This all happened when the man threatened to use a knife at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.
The threat forced a brief evacuation of parts of the airport, one of Europe’s busiest. Suspect was shot in the leg in incident that is not terror-related and arrested by police before transporting him to a hospital.
He remains in custody but no any details of his condition were released and a motive is unclear.
