A privately-owned Dassault Falcon 7X (VP-BZE), ploughed through a fence and broke into a block of offices near to Malta International Airport on Wednesday night. “It seems that the security cables and brake holding the plane broke off and the plane was blown off from where it was parked, into a street [before] crashing into a building belonging to Polidano Group situated opposite the runway,” said Jean Paul Sammut from Polidano Group, Global News reported.
“After it was blown away from its parking area by strong winds it was propelled by intense and widespread winds and crashed into a building,” a lawyer for the Polidano Group, the construction company that owns the building, told.
The building is declared unsafe for the time being. The full extent of the damage will not be known until the debris is removed. Malta’s Bureau for Air Accident Investigation opened an inquiry into the incident, Malta International Airport said.
