Jet Airways grounded two senior pilots as they left cockpit of the Boeing 777-300ER they were operating, during an argument between them on 1 January. The aircraft was operating flight 9W-119 from London to Mumbai when the “misunderstanding occurred”.
local media reported that the male commander had allegedly “slapped” his female co-pilot, “after which she walked out of the cockpit in tears”. When she did not return, he reportedly “left the cockpit, leaving it unmanned for some time.” After persuasion, the lady pilot went back to the cockpit but reportedly came out in a huff shortly afterwards. This time, a frightened cabin crew, fearing for everyone’s safety, requested her to go back to the controls and operate the flight to its destination.
The spokesperson for Jet Airways mentioned, “At Jet Airways, safety of guests, crew and assets is of paramount importance and the airline has zero tolerance for any action of its employees that compromises safety,” says the carrier.
