Boeing unveiled unmanned aerial vehicle prototype that could shape 21st century autonomous air travel and transport.
Boeing recently completed initial flight tests of an electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing (eVTOL) unmanned cargo aerial vehicle (CAV) prototype.
According to Boeing “In less than three months, Boeing engineers designed and built the cargo air vehicle(CAV) prototype, which stands four feet off the ground, measures 15 by 18 feet and weighs more than 700 pounds. It is outfitted with eight counter-rotating propeller blades and custom Boeing batteries that allow for vertical flight”.
Boeing chief technology officer, Greg Hyslop says: “This flying cargo air vehicle (CAV) represents another major step in our Boeing eVTOL strategy. We have an opportunity to really change air travel and transport, and we’ll look back on this day as a major step in that journey.”
