4 Afriqiyah Airlines Airbuses damaged due to clashes between government forces and opposition militia around Mitiga Airport, Tripoli in Libya. A300, A319 and A330 sustained minor damages while A320 was extensively damaged and has been grounded.
Another two jets operated by Libyan Wings and two Buraq Air Boeing 737s suffered lesser damage from gunfire, that the airline said it was preparing to fly out of the country for maintenance.
Fierce clashes killed at least 20 people and forced to shut down the airport. Mitiga is a military air base where civilian flights began to operate after the international airport was shut down in 2014.
