The first Airbus A321LR(long-range) has commenced the maiden flight today, 31 January 2018, at 11:08 local time from Finkenwerder airfield in Hamburg, Germany.
The aircraft, MSN7877, is powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines is set to undergo a nearly 100 hour flight test programme, including transatlantic missions. The A321LR is expected to obtain EASA and FAA Type Certification by Q2 2018 and enter into service in Q4 2018.
The airplane’s new door configuration enables it to accommodate up to 240 passengers. The Aircraft is powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines with a third Additional Centre Fuel Tank (ACT) to extend the aircraft’s range to 4,000nm (7,400 km).
Airbus believes that customers would replace the ageing Boeing 757-200 with its new A321LR.
