A drone flying few feet above a Frontier airlines Airbus, films the airplane on approach at McCarran International Airport and the footage was posted online.
According to ‘LasVegas now’, the drone took off from Whitney Park and circling near the airport, within few seconds an airplane flies towards it., when the drone turns around, the airplane is seen directly below it.
“We became aware of this incident this afternoon and we are investigating,” said Ian Gregor from the FAA.
According to FAA regulations, A drone pilot who violates the rule and fly unsafely could be fined up to $1,437 per violation, and businesses that fly drones unsafely will be fined up to $32,666 per violation. The unsafe drone flyers also could face federal criminal penalties including fines of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment for up to three years depends on the severity of the case.
Drone organizations have condemned the incident and said “This pilot’s actions not only endangered the flying public but has the potential to discredit an entire UAS industry,”… “It is the opinion of Drone U and its members that the pilot receive swift and just punishment for this example of irresponsible and reckless flight. There is no excuse for this type of criminal behavior.”..
