Pilot: “If you haven’t already, roll the fire trucks.”
Air traffic control: “They will be standing by.”…. This is the conversation between ATC and United Airlines flight 1175 just before making an emergency landing at Honolulu-HNL airport at 1:02 p.m.
Right hand PW4077 engine cowl separated in mid-flight from a United Airlines Boeing 777-200, Reg N773UA on flight #UA1775 from San Francisco-SFO to Honolulu-HNL on Tuesday. The plane landed safely but caused vibration about 40 minutes before landing.
One of the passenger said “There was a loud bang and the plane really started shaking,” The state department of Transportation said in a statement, “the United flight landed safely with Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting personnel standing by as a precaution. The plane has been taken to a hangar”
