Virgin Atlantic cancelled long awaited delivery of A380s. According to latest Airbus orders and delivery data, Virgin Atlantic appears to have cancelled the six Airbus A380 planes was on order. The Virgin Atlantic is one among the first to make orders for six A380 planes, when it was launched.
The Virgin supposed to have taken delivery of the first A380 in 2006, but the delays in delivery left airline to focus on building its fleet with smaller wide-body jets.
Virgin still wanted to maintain close relationship with Airbus and placed orders for A350 twin-jet models. The U.K. carrier placed orders for twin-jet 787s and A350-1000s as an option for four-engine 550 seats A380s
Airbus said to cut down on the production rate to six a year from 2019 as its only option to save the program is to step into China market, which is least likely to happen.
The latest A380 order delivery tally at 331 orders, of which 222 have been delivered, leaving 109 still to be produced.
