For the first time in more than 70 years, flights bound for Israel will fly through Saudi airspace. Air India was given permission by Saudi Arabia to fly non-stop between India and Israel through Saudi Airspace.
According to political analysts, Saudi lifted the decades old bad after being having non-offical ties with Israel and warming up relationship.
Air India has scheduled to begin operations between New Delhi to Tel Aviv in Israel starting March 22nd onwards, using Boeing 787 for a 7h 15mins non-stop flight.
Currently only the Israel carrier ElAl has four weekly non-stop flights that connect Mumbai and Tel Aviv.
