Airbus A330 BelugaXL having its Rolls-Royce Trent 700 Turbofan, engines installed at Airbus assembly plant in Toulouse, France. Airbus released the first photographs of structurally complete airframe of new BelugaXL aircraft in January 2018.
The super transporter will be used to airlift sections of planes from different manufacturing sites in Europe to Airbus’s final assembly lines in France, Germany and Spain.
The new BelugaXL aircraft is six metres longer, one metre wider than its own A300-600ST transporter version, and be able to transport both wings of an A350 XWB jetliner at once. The present BelugaST transporter can only carry one single wing per flight.
The maiden flight is expected to be by mid-2018.
