A ground worker injured at Gatwick airport after his foot trapped under a plane’s wheel. Rossiya Airlines A319 bound for St Petersburg ran over a worker’s foot while pushback for departure.
A passenger posted on Twitter, ‘We don’t really know what happened. Cabin crew informed us that we have ran over a person while being taxied to the runway.”
Gatwick spokesperson confirmed the accident and said ‘We can confirm that an incident took place on the airfield at 5.10pm where a Dnata employee was unfortunately injured and the emergency services were required to attend.’
The airplane with around 120 passengers on board is on the tarmac for more than 2 hours and the passengers were given hotel accomodation for overnight stay.
