India’s Jet Airways has finalised an order to buy 75 Boeing 737 MAX narrow-body jets, valued $8.8 billion at list prices. The airline said to increase its fleet size to meet the growing demand for its domestic and international routes.
The new order is in addition to its previous order of 75 737 Max 8s at 2015 Dubai air show.
The airline is expected to take delivery of all jets over the period of mid 2018 to 2023.
Boeing forecast Airlines in India, Asia’s third-largest economy, to buy up to 2,100 aircraft over the next 20 years valued at $290billion.
Jet airways currently operates 75 Boeing 737s, 10 Boeing 777s, Airbus A330s and 15 ATR 42/72 aircraft.
