“We’re a tad short in pilots,” said President of Emirates, Tim Clark at the annual Aircraft Interiors Expo promoting Emirates new first class product on Boeing 777.
Emirates said to trim flight frequencies to U.S and Europe destinations due to short of 100 to 150 pilots. According to Emirates President, the airline is compelled merge flights and cut flight frequencies to U.S destinations including Fort Lauderdale and Miami during the peak holiday season.
Emirates confirmed that from 1 July, flights to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando will be trimmed from daily services to five a week.
The airline also said to extend cut flights to many Europe and Asia destinations, including London Heathrow, Munich, Bangkok and Phuket.
Clark was optimistic and said the reductions will be short term and the pilots numbers should be “alright by September or October.”
