Windshield separated in-flight on a Sichuan Airlines Airbus A319 flight #3U8633 flying from Chongqing to Lhasa in southwestern China, on 14 May 2018.
According to local airline blogger FATIII, The front right side windshield of the cockpit separated at an altitude of 33,200 ft. causing sudden decompression, autopilot, avionics failure and some parts were sucked out. The crew made an emergency descend to 24,000 ft and diverted to Chengdu Shuangliu Airport and made an emergency landing at 07:46 local time.
A passenger said “there was a sound from the top of the plane during the flight”… “It was just a flash.”..”The cabin darkened suddenly, the oxygen masks dropped,” ..”we felt weight loss”.. and “aircraft dropped rapidly, and the iceberg below the plane was clearly visible”
According to the official report of the Civil Aviation Administration of Southwest China, on May 14, 2018, All the passengers were evacuated safely, but the co-pilot’s face was scratched the waist sprained, and a flight attendant suffered minor injuries during the descent.
