Airbus and Volkswagen’s Audi have signed a letter of intent with German government to trail air taxis called ‘Pop.up’ in and around Audi’s hometown of Ingolstadt.
Airbus and Audi have demonstrated their version of two-seater Air Taxi concept capsule that can be attached to a car or a drone at Geneva Motor Show, in March this year
The concept design is a part car and part quadcopter and battery powered.
The Pop.Up is made up of two main parts — the ground module and the drone module. Ground module drives drives on the street and the drone module – two-seat capsule detaches and fly.
The passengers can book the taxi from their mobile phone and even from flight. The autonomous technology will allow the occupants to simply program where they want to go and the machine will do the rest.
