The board of Mozambique Airlines, was sacked after it left the Prime Minister stranded at the airport without an aircraft to fly. The Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosário and passengers were left stranded when the scheduled flight ran out of fuel to depart. The fuel suppliers have cut the fuel for the past three days, until the outstanding payment is released.
Prime Minister ended up flying on an Air Force plane for an official trip to northern Niassa province.
The national carrier of Mozambique,LAM, had been facing financial difficulties and cancelled many flight last week. The airline that sits on one of the world’s largest untapped natural gas reserves, said to have borrowed $1.4bilion from undisclosed lenders in 2016.
The airline operates 2 Boeing 737s, 2 Bombardier Dash-8s and 2 Embraer 190s
