A quick look at Boeing’s first 777-9 prototype at its facility in Washington.
The 777x is built on the success of 777 and 787 Dreamliner families, will be the largest and most efficient twin-engine jet in the world, unmatched in every aspect of performance. says Boeing.
The aircraft will be fitted with a General Electric GE9X engines, is the largest engine in the world – the fan made of 16 carbon fibre blades has a diameter of 132 inches. The GE9X engine was flight rested while attached to a Boeing 747 on 13 March 2018.
The aircraft has a wingspan of about 236 feet (72 meters), totally built of composite material with a system that allows folding the wing tips for better operation in the airports.
The 777-9 is 77m long, can carry up to 425 passengers and has a range of 7,600nm is expected to fly later in 2018 or early 2019.
With the list price of $388.7 million, the 777-9 has firm orders for 273 aircraft with Emirates ordering 115 -9s and 35 -8s.
