Fire erupted at a Russian aircraft manufacturing plant, Irkut on late Monday (9 July 2018) . Irkut, builds Su-30, Yak-130 military aircraft and MC21 passenger aircraft, but says its production line of MC21 and other aircraft are not affected by the fire.
The fire broke out at about 10:20 LT, in an electrochemical workshop which is an anodic paint shop, where sulphuric and nitric acids are stored.
60 employees at the plant were evacuated as fire spread to almost 1000 square meters.
The Irkut plant has manufactured nearly 7000 aircraft of more than 20 types since 1934, which were delivered to 40 countries.
