Iran Air will be taking delivery of five more ATR72-600 turboprop aircraft from France tomorrow 5 August, morning.
Franco-Italian turboprop aircraft will be landing in Mehrabad Airport at 9 am LT on Sunday.
This 5 planes are part of an order for 20 new ATR72-600 aircraft placed in April 2017, of which eight have been delivered.
The deliveries were on doubt, after U.S President’s decision in May withdraw from 2015 nuclear deal and to reimpose sanctions. Though ATRs are manufactured in Europe, the aircraft contain more than 10% US-made components, which prohibit the plane makers to export planes to Iran.
ATR delivers the aircraft before the Monday mid-night, which marks the final day of a ‘wind-down period’ after which sanctions will be reimposed by the US Treasury.
Airbus has delivered only 3 out of 100 jets on order said that it will not deliver any more during the ‘wind-down period’ and Boeing which has sold 80 jets to Iran Air said it will not deliver any planes to Iran.
