Garuda Indonesia suspending flights to London Heathrow from 28 October 2018.
The airline is currently serving thrice-weekly nonstop flight between Jakarta and London Heathrow with Boeing 777-300ERs and said to end flights from 28 Oct.
Garuda recommenced flights to London Gatwick in 2014 after being barred from entering EU airspace due to safety restrictions placed on the airline by European Union.
In 2015, Garuda shifted from Gatwick to Heathrow after securing a valuable Heathrow landing slot and commenced non-stop flights to Jakarta, but had to stop at Singapore when it was flying from Jakarta to London., because Jakarta Airport runway was not strong enough for the flights with full fuel to takeoff.
Then in September 2017, the runway was strengthened, allowing nonstop flights in both direction.
The reason for suspending flights are not known.
