The Boeing announced to suspend production on Tuesday(11 Sept) at its facilities in North Charleston, South Carolina, so the staff and their families could evacuate the area ahead of Hurricane Florence which is expected to make landfall this week.
The company said in a statement, “The safety of our Boeing teammates and their families is our top priority, and…..closely monitoring the storm and working in conjunction with authorities to stay ahead of emergency situations,”
Boeing South Carolina is the second home of 787-8 and -9 Dreamliner final assembly and delivery facility.
The longest version 787-10, is built only in North Charleston at a factory adjacent to the Charleston airport. It is Boeing’s only commercial jetliner factory outside Washington.
