A Belgian Airforce F-16 fighter caught fire and was completely burned down at Florennes Air Base on 11 October, 2018.
A cannon fire from another F-16 hit and destroyed the parked F-16 while on maintenance.
According to information, a technician accidentally activated the six-barrel 20mm Vulcan M61A-1 cannon of F-16 while doing maintenance, and some bullets hit the burned down F-16AM and damaged another parked nearby.
The two damaged F-16s were containing about 10,000 liters of fuel each, as they were about to take off
The Belgian Air Force has 60 active F-16 aircraft, including 48 on duty for NATO.
The incident injured one person.
