The expansion of Dubai’s second airport, Al Maktoum International Airport is delayed by 5 years, and will open in 2030.
The Airport which was designed to be the world’s largest and handle 130 million passengers a year by 2025, was open to public in 2013., and handles only a fraction of Dubai’s passenger traffic.
Number of flights handles by Al Maktoum is down 12.5% as the passenger traffic declined by 6.7% this year.
Dubai has launched the largest tender so far for the expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport., and said the airport will be able to handle 130 million passengers a year when the first phase is completed, and more than 260 million passengers a year when fully completed.
Dubai secured a $3 billion loan last year to develop the airport, and its share market is down by 13% this year…..
