Canada grounded all of its Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft and banned the jet from entering its airspace until further notice.
According to Canada’s Transport Minister Mr. Garneau, Canada decided to ban after newly available satellite-tracking data suggests similarities between the Lion Air and Ethiopian 737MAXs crash.
Mr. Garneau, a former astronaut and engineer, said two flights showed similar “vertical fluctuations” and “oscillations.”, but it is “not a conclusion”.
The Canada’s move adds pressure to the Federal Aviation Administration and Boeing, which so far have declined to ground the MAX and reinstated again and again it is one of the safest aircraft to be airborne.
The union representing Air Canada’s 8,500 flight attendants welcomed the decision.
