China is considering to exclude Boeing 737MAX jets from the trade list of American exports it would buy.. sources told Bloomberg.
Boeing jets were featured on a draft list of American products China would buy to reduce its trade surplus with the US.
After the escalating issues with MAX, China said to examine whether to cut the 737 Max from the list altogether or replace it with other Boeing models.
Chinese carriers operate about 20 per cent of 737 Max deliveries worldwide, including China Southern Airlines has 16 MAXs with another 34 on order, China Eastern Airlines has 13, and Air China has 14 jets.
However, China has to balance the products importing from America to $US300-billion-plus annual goods trade surplus., means Boeing products are worth importing as it run into billions.
Boeing estimated to China requires 7,690 new planes worth $1US.2 trillion in the next 20 years to 2037, and Boeing’s one third of its operating profit relies on 737 family aircraft.
