Flights were on holding pattern at Sydney Airport due to fire warning in the control tower this afternoon.
Passengers faced lengthy delays after all flights were placed into a holding pattern.
The fighter fighters evacuated the tower.
It was reported a smoking battery pack triggered the fire alarm. No sign of fire was detected.
Flights to and from Sydney airport have resumed at 1:30 pm local time, but the Airport says “the impact will continue throughout the afternoon.”
The delays are up to 60 minutes for domestic and up to 90 minutes on international flights.
