American Airlines has extended cancellations of flights on 737MAX through June 5, 2019, “in an effort to provide more certainty and avoid last minute flight disruptions” announced AA today.
The airline says “this will result in the cancellation of approximately 90 flights each day based on our current schedule”
American has 24 Boeing 737MAX-8 in its fleet, and 4 more on order.
Boeing and the FAA said last week, the company needs more time to complete the changes in the MAX’s flight-control system including MCAS software.
As grounding continues, Boeing announced to cut the 737 production rate by 20% to 42 jets a month.
