A Boeing 767 plane abandoned four years ago in Hong Kong by a bankrupt Russian carrier is now for sale.
A Bankrupt Russian Airline Transaero, flew its 27-year old Boeing 767 from Moscow on flight UN965 to Hong Kong on 26 October 2015. A day after the plane arrived in Hong Kong, the airline’s operating licence was revoked. Airline abandoned the plane in one of the maintenance hangars of Hong Kong airport
In December 2015, the HK Airport Authority detained the plane over the non-payment of parking fees.
The authority obtained a court order to sell the plane on an “as-is” basis, and now is ready for sale at US$795,000 (HK$6.2 million).
The plane has no maintenance records and require some millions in repairs to get its airworthiness certificate, which is unlikely to happen.
