Cathay Pacific’s “same sex couple” advertisement is banned from Hong Kong’s MTR and airport to be displayed.
Visual showing two men strolling hand in hand along a beach was part of “Move Beyond” rebranding of the Airline and is intended to promote airline’s attitude towards diversity.
Both the Airport Authority, which runs the city’s airport, and the MTR Corporation rejected the advert content, and banned it from displaying in prominent sites across Hong Kong, including one of Asia-Pacific’s largest LCD screens at Sogo mall in Causeway Bay and major MTR interchange stations including Central.
“We embrace diversity and inclusion. We are very diverse and our customers are too,” the spokesman for Cathay Pacific said.
